Bake-Off Rules
1. Bring Your Best Cobbler
Participants may choose any fruit filling or combination of fruits for their cobbler. Peach, apple, blackberry, cherry, blueberry, mixed berry - get creative!
2. Cobbler Must be Prepared in Advance
All cobblers must be fully prepared and baked prior to arriving at the event. There will be no cooking or baking facilities available on-site.
3. Minimum Quantity
Each participant must bring at least one full sheet pan of cobbler to the event. Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring additional cobbler if they would like to provide more samples.
4. Public tasting
Cobblers will be served to event attendees in approximately 2 oz. tasting portions. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample the entries and vote for their favorites while supplies last.
5. People's Choice Competition
The people have the final say! Event attendees will vote for their favorite cobblers, with prizes awarded for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and additional special judging categories.
6. What the City Will Provide
The City of Ball Ground will provide each participant with:
-
2 oz. sample cups
-
Spoons
-
Napkins
-
A table for serving
7. What Participants Should Bring
Participants are responsible for bringing:
-
At least one full sheet pan of pre-baked cobbler
-
Any serving utensils needed to portion and serve the cobbler
-
Any additional equipment or supplies necessary for their entry
We also strongly encourage participants to bring a tablecloth and a little creativity! Feel free to decorate your table and have some fun with your presentation.
8. Ingredients & Allergen Information
Participants should be prepared to identify the primary ingredients in their cobbler. Entries containing common allergens, particularly nuts, should be clearly identified for attendees.
9. Sampling Is While Supplies Last
Tasting will be available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Participants are not required to replenish their entry once their cobbler has been completely served.
10. Keep It Clean
Participants are responsible for keeping their serving area clean and orderly throughout the competition and disposing of any waste at the conclusion of the event.
11. Bring Your Creativity & Have Fun!
Roots & Remembrance is a celebration of the traditions, stories, people, and flavors that make Ball Ground special. We want the Cobbler Bake-Off to capture that same spirit. Bring a family favorite, try something completely new, decorate your table, and most importantly - come ready to have some fun!
